Gut Health Boosting COLLAGEN LATTE

women holding cup of coffee

I used to be addicted to that flavored creamer… you know, the one that rhymes with Minternational Belight? It was the sugar free version but it had lots of ingredients I couldn’t pronounce, as well as some questionable fat sources. So, when I decided that I needed to prioritize my health, I almost gave up my coffee habit cold turkey. But then I read a book by Dr. Sara Gottfried called “Younger”, which is all about resources for feeling vibrant as we age. She mentioned in the book that she drinks collagen lattes, and I was immediately intrigued. So, I tried making one myself. It was delicious! I have since tweaked her original recipe and made it my own but the credit is all hers for helping me break my trans-fat peppermint mochachacalatayahha addiction.

Here’s my recipe for a beautiful, warm, and creamy boost to your morning…

Collagen Latte

Ingredients:

  • 12-16 ounces of fresh coffee
  • 2 scoops Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides (collagen is great for gut health, hair, skin, nails!)
  • 1 TBSP Coconut Oil (so many gut health benefits!!!)
  • 1 TBSP Grass-Fed Butter (good form of butyrate)
  • Stevia (I like it sweet so I use 2 packets)

Directions:

Add the butter, coconut oil, collagen peptides and stevia to a large cup (I use my nutri-bullet blender cup for this). Then, add the coffee to the cup. At this point, you can either use a hand stick frother (amazon has awesome ones for less than $10) or you can use the blender like I do. A few words of caution: If you are using a blender like I do, make sure you do not overfill your blender cup or it will potentially spit out hot liquids at you when you open the cup!
